2011 has been really dramatic

I celebrated my first Chinese New Year in Semenanjung with friends

Thank to UTAR for ensuring that my semester break is one

with presentation and hard work.

Got shortlisted by AirAsia for the cadet pilot programmed

again. I'm so grateful~~

but then i was

Hit by a car just outside of the university gate

Damn that car driver who hit me!

I got healthy soon enough and

Visited Cameron Highland for the first time

is my first visit there~~

Then i've

backpacked to Cambodia with Jestrine

I thought we're never going to make it
but at last we did!

Got damn broke and moved into a new neighborhood

which also marked the beginning of an endless battle
with the cockroach armies every week.

Mum visited me for the first time ever since i came here

but is only for few hours before she went to another city

See. I don't even have a photo to prove that this actually happened before.

Throw up a music concert with friends from the orchestra.

The event was highlighted in newspapersSSS
which is something to be proud of.

The darkest hour

Went to watch this movie 'The Darkest Hour'

with fellow friends.

Seriously, this is good stuff.

I thought it was going to be boring at first but found myself totally hooked

after the first few minutes.

It remind me of the game 'Left for dead'

Pretty breath-holding movie.

Excursion: The Angkor Complex ~~~ The Baphuon

Right after we got out from the Bayon, the temperature suddenly surge to
an unbearable HOT HOT HOT degree!!!

Luckily Jest brought along the umbrella

Walked pass this big statue

Eventually we reached this ruins....i have no idea where this place is...

We kind of lost our way here and there are many stones laying around the ground

Then we saw this pond and an unknown temple nearby

which is kind of mysterious

I tried to locate where this place is from the free map i obtained back in the airport

but i just barely have an idea where i am

From far, i can see that the temple entrance was blocked and

it is kind of deserted so

we just took some photo and leave.

Anyhow, this happened back in May, i later learnt that in July this year

the temple is reopen for visit and those stones laying around the grounds were

actually from this temple.

The French restoration team have no idea

which part it belong to during the restoration

progress so they just left it laying around.

So, if you are planning to visit this place soon.

Anyhow, since i was two months earlier for this temple.

The only thing i got to do here was...

Soon, it'll be the end of Year 3 Semester 2

and this semester is all about my FYP

If there's one thing i could have mention here

it'll be my lab works

and i just don't felt like bragging on the one thing

that's sending my hair standing on end at here again

So i'm left with nothing to update.

*I'm the queen of excuses

Since Year 3 Semester 3 is gonna be my last semester before graduation

i promise to scribble on this page more often

At the moment, let me just call it a wrap here

The first thing that ran into my head when i'm here
is the word

'MAGNIFICENT!!!'

as there'll be fine if ya lost ya ticket!

Was damn tired too when i reached this point!

I went to the interior of the temple first before checking out the exterior
because i was anxious to see the giant stone faces close-up

A little climbing up the very steep staircases
and i'm at the interior of Bayon!

Tada!!

Gotta be careful not to flip over and fell.

TIP: The best time for photo at this place was in the morning before 10am

I was here at the noon time. *Sob~

While staring at that face, i actually thought of

After we're done with the interior, we went to check out the exterior of the temple.

A tour guide was explaining the story its implies to a group of tourists,

so i kind of became part of the group for few minutes.

It's mostly on story of the everyday life of the peoples back in the 12th century.

Anyway, restoration is on progress for this temple by the Japanese.

Maybe, it will look nicer in the future when the restoration project was done.

Hmmp...i do wonder how old i'll be by the time they finish this

After a month with my experiment~~~

Is 11am in the morning and i'm sitting here blogging.

I wish someday somehow someone will invent a teleporter

so that i can teleport myself to wherever i wanna be now.

After 3 days of holidays, the first sight i walked into the culture room

is to see my groundnuts growing completely out of the culture vial

with its leaves and stem totally exposed to the environment

I was like

'CAN'T YOU STUPID GROUDNUTS JUST STOP GROWING SO FAST!!!'

Obviously they need a bigger space for growth

so i went picking them out one by one

and transferred them to the glass jar

I thought this would have solve the matter

Soon after, i realized i was so wrong

because

THE GLASS JAR IS TOO SMALL

ZzzZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzZZZZzzzzzz

It fix most but not all

Pray to god now that it won't be contaminated any further

because i still needs the damn leaves and stem to

We started planning for this concert last year while i'm still in Sabah having my industrial training

and

a year after that

is finally over

I do hope that this event would carve a fond memory for all

especially to those who will be graduating soon.

On the night, i received tons of positive comment from the audiences

which really make up to all the hardships we went through during the process

but in the end

we still managed to cope with everything

and got a fruitful result

The concert is finally over.

Is time i wave my goodbye to the orchestra

and place my dedication on somewhere else.

Now that my groudnuts are growing at a rate faster

than i can possibly handle

Is really panicking.

I'll have to rush

but time is so limited in the lab

A whole day in the lab is not enough.

Thank to the brilliant autoclaving session

which really caused me much trouble

Anyhow, i've been roaming around old town kampar today morning

with my fellow assignment group mates

The title of our assignment

'Historical building in Kampar'

Is due next Monday~

Can't blame us for doing last minute work

at least we did put in the effort

to interview all those veteran

Well, tomorrow i'll be heading to Cheras

for my forensic trip~

Will take lotsa photos to show you guys!

#1 This is a Hakka dunno what association building.

The association itself had been around since 1922 but they lost track of their own

history dates back to 1978 due to burning of the building by the Japanese during World War 2.

#2 These traditional chinese chairs are all over a hundred years old.

They said that the Japanese used to borrow them and later return to the association.

At last!!!

I've completed my FYP proposal and is ready to be hand up~~~

Hopefully, it won't come back to me once again painted all in bloody red pen ink.

Is really frustrated when you put in so much effort on something

and in the end you don't get the expected result.

Anyway, i've been having a lot of fun at my music camp for this few days.

Tomorrow will be the last day of the camp.

I'll be missing the fun with the rest of the members.

Turn out it was Jia Jing Birthday today so we bought him a cake to celebrate for him.

Excursion: The Angkor Complex ~~~ South Gate/ Gate of Victory

After the Angkor Wat, the next stop will be the Bayon Temple.

But before that, you'll pass through this gate here known as The South Gate or 'Gate of Victory'

which is probably the only gate that gained the most access by visitors of the temple.

There are other gates such as the Gate of Death and so on....

I got down here to take some photo before going to the Bayon

while my tuk tuk driver waited for us at the opposite site of the gate.

Well, on first sign this place looked exactly just like a gate

and nothing much to offer

but if you study precisely at the 2 rows of statues

you will notice the differences

On the left hand side : The Deva (Guardian God)

On the right hand site: The Asura (Demon God) + one noob

From what i observed close-up, the different is at the head part.
Notice?

Well, this two row of statues yet tells us another story.
Google it if you wanna know.

This gate is one of my favorite place in the Angkor Complex

because

I'm finally sitting on a big snake~~~!
(Not recommend though, it might be dangerous)

Angkor Wat
The most famous temple within The Angkor Complex

Nothing beat seeing it with your own eyes

I arrived here early in the morning, so most of the places are still very dark.
Read from somewhere before that the best time to visit this place is around 2.00pm
The time when you get the most sunlight and of course a better time to take tons of great photos.

Bear in mind that for every temple, there are their own unique stuffs worth seeing.
~~Even though they all look the same~~

So, here a list i made on the things i must see in Angkor Wat.

Now, you're probably wondering what i mean by going to hell and heaven.
Well, allow me to explain then.

So you see, this is a very large temple.
To put it simple, it is divided into 3 fields : Hell(地狱), World(人间) and Heaven(天堂)
I've outlined for you in the following map ~~if my memory serve me right~~

The bas relief is the first thing i saw once i got in.

Note: Where you see the bas relief is where the hell lies.

The only chamber in Angkor Wat~
known as 'The Echo Chamber or The Echo Room'
where it is famous because

the only thing you'll do here is to stand *'AGAINST' the wall
and strike your chest.

I finally bought a Daruma Doll!!!

I've been looking for this ever since few years ago.

Finally spotted one in Ipoh but sorry i've forgotten the name of the shop.

Is in De Garden of Ipoh.

Well, you probably wonder what a daruma is.

I'm not a good story teller.

The Daruma doll (達磨 daruma), also known as a Dharma doll,

is a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll modeled after Bodhidharma.

Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck,

making them a popular gift of encouragement.

The eyes of Daruma are often blank when sold.

Monte A. Greer, author of Daruma Eyes, described the "oversized symmetrical round blank white eyes" as a means to keep track of goals or big tasks and motivate them to work to the finish.

The recipient of the doll fills in one eye upon setting the goal,

then the other upon fulfilling it.

In this way, every time they see the one-eyed Daruma, they recall the goal.

At the end of the year, all the Daruma are brought back to the temple

they were purchased from for a traditional burning ceremony

This ceremony, called the Daruma Kuyo (だるま供養 daruma kuyo) is held once a year

usually right after New Years Day.

At these events, people bring the Daruma figures they had used that year to the temple.

After expressing gratitude to them, they turn it over to the temple and buy new ones for the next year.

All of the old Daruma figures are burnt together in the temple.

After a solemn display of the monks’ entry, reading of the sutras, and blowing of horns,

the tens of thousands of figurines are then set aflame.

Recently, i've been busy with booth duty and researching on my FYP topic.

My Final Year Project proposal really used up most of my time but

i'm slowly enjoying the process now.

Root induction from a Groundnut Cultivar by using different explants

That's my Final Year Project topic.

So, i'll be working on the aspect of plant cells and tissues culture.

Hopefully, i'll be able to find more related journals so that i could start penning on my literature review.

This is the worst part because i really can't find any papers that work on root induction of groundnut.

There is shoot, callus, and so on yet nothing for root.

The closes match i could get for my topic is a paper researching on

And the best part is 'Free entrance' as long as you're a UTAR student.

This semester break is ain't a holiday at all.

There is no break at all.

Seriously, I'm pissed!

I bought my flight ticket last year and now i can't go back home

because the darn UTAR is throwing up stupid lab briefing and so on

bull shit for FYP students during the semester break.

The reason is because they can't find a right time for everyone when the next semester begin.

Craps!

And they expect me to sacrifice my RM500 bucks flight ticket

for a few hours lab briefing and 10 minutes presentation.

Why do they never consider those students from East Malaysia?

我曾经是National Service里的head. 引领着200多个服役生。

一起做过许许多多的task。

服役生有很多种族，大家说着不同的语言，

有不同的practice。

所以身为一个领导者，我必须要注意他们的不同，

然后再想出一套方式，适合大家的。这样配合起来会比较容易。

起初，刚上任的我，什么也不懂，

很多事都做不好。一直被人在背后批评。

被人取花名~~等等~

大便啦~~死八婆啦~~

在难听的都有~~~

但是，这些事情从来都没有打击到我。

反而让我明白一件事，那就是我的方式不对。

是不是有什么地方被我忽略了?

为什么会有这些事情呢?

等等等~~

检讨过后，我也知道自己态度上，很有问题。

大家都同年龄，作着同样的事情。

我也不见得会做得比其他人好。

但是，我却是那个每次讲东讲西的人。

所以大家都不喜欢~

后来~我和大家道歉。

然后保证不会再这样。

尽心的引领大家到最后~~~

这个经验，然我深刻体会到。

身为一个领导者，绝对不能被闲言闲语而影响。

要得到众人的配合。

就要有诚恳的态度。

不要只是看到别人错的地方，要先看到别人对的地方。

当下属完成了一件事情，

不要急着数落人家的错，而是先称赞人家对的地方。

做错的可以慢慢在改善，但是必须让他知道而愿意去改善。

开口就先批评人，在背后骂那些和你做事的人。

是不会得到别人的尊重。

另外

身为一个领导者，就是会遇到很多出乎意料的事。

但是，也不能说办不到而逃避。

记得当时晚上，

身在一个大森林里的我，突然发现compass坏了。

而走在最前面的我，身后有着400多人。

当时，黑漆漆的，什么都看不到。

草也长的比我还高。

我紧张的不得了，不知道能不能走出这个森林。

但是最后还是告诉自己要冷静。

动用脑精想出一个办法来。

而不是逃避，把责任推给旁人。

虽然兜了很多冤枉路，也花了很多时间。

但是最后还是成功走出了这一片森林。

离开了National Service。

我学到的不是一个领导者会有多威风~~

有多少人要听你的~~~

有多少人一定要服你那一套~~~

有多少的事事非非~~~

我学到了~

要和上级配合，纪律是很重要的

有问题，不需要理会太多，但是绝对要raise up the problem。

要肯接受改变。

不可以坐以待毙，一旦持续有问题时，要找出问题所在，

然后想办法解决。

不要一味的认为别人under你就有一定的责任要服从你的order

不要expect人家会自动自发的去帮你解决问题。

当人家自动自发去帮你解决问题时，你要感激，而不是批评人家不把你放在眼里。

最后

身份，地位，能力

不是一切

重要的是

诚恳，真心，思想

Ever since i'm back from my industrial training.

I found that i'd been keeping less and less time on my blog.

....Being a Year 3 student really does is busy....

I wonder when my next big break will be?

After my graduation next year in September???

This semester is all about Fermentation Technology, Genomic and Bioinformatic.

Two subjects that's totally new to me.

It'd been 10 weeks since my first date with them,

but why in the world, until now,

I still don't know a single thing about them!!!!

Hey there, i would like to apologize for another slack moment on my part. The past few weeks have not only been hectic but erratic. Tests, Assignments, Reports, Practice~~~~on top of all that~~~ 'mum and sister'. Phew~~~

I'm temporary free for a few days before the next wave hit. Ouch~~~ cant university life be much more easier?
How i wish i could be in a shopping mall with a 'big bank' beside me now instead of surfing the net for extra info to work on the forever boring assignment. *sigh*

Excursion: The Angkor Complex

I still remember the time i flipped over this page in my primary 4 history text book and

there was this tiny picture which fall right at the bottom of the page,
showing the ancient temple of Angkor Wat.

I was so fascinated by the temple and the surrounding greenery of the rambling
that i secretly promised to myself that i'll be visiting this amazing place one day when i grow up.

Har....and finally i'm here.

So, i'll do this in a chronological order because i'm feeling lazy to sort things out.

4.30am

Woke up and get ready for the sunrise at Angkor Wat.

4.45am

Met my tuktuk driver and off to Angkor Archeological Park.

For your information, i am late for 15mins

and don't be late if you don't want to miss out

the infamous sunrise at Angkor Wat.

5.30am

Finally reached the main gate and got my ticket punched.

I am very sad and furious at the same time because i thought that i'm going to miss out

my sunrise at Angkor Wat.

The sky is already lighted and Angkor Wat is still so far away.

Still a long way before entering to the outer gate of Angkor Wat.

Finally, the outer gate is just behind me.

5.45am

I found myself staring face to face with Angkor Wat after i got out from the outer gate

but is still a long way to go.

The sun is finally rising and i'm back to the happy mode again.

Thought i'm going to miss out the sunrise for being late.

I'm fat.

I just got myself measured by a body composition analyzer done by my nutritionist yesterday

and guess what

the darn machine claim that my fat mass are slightly higher than the normal range

which is so not true

How could this be true?

很讨厌一些人，可以把一件很简单的事情想的很复杂，
然后再从中拿来加油添醋，画蛇添足，
非要把简单的事搞得复杂化，唯恐天下不乱，才甘愿。
遇到这一种人，我还真不知道因该同情他的愚蠢还是气他。

玩音乐，是一件让人快乐的事。

能够在大学里参与乐团更加是一件难得的事。

要知道，不是每个人都能在一所没有音乐系的大学里还能有机会继续自己的音乐路程，

上台把自己苦练的结果，应用表演的形式来呈献给观众看。
观众的肯定就是一位音乐家最大的鼓励。

练习与筹备一个音乐会是很需要大家的团结与努力才能成功的。
筹备工作是很重要，没错，
但是练习更加重要。
一个表演者绝对不能在完全没有准备的状态下上台去
乱吹，乱打，乱弹，乱指，
也就是“乱来”。
身为一个表演者，绝对有一定的责任练好自己的技巧，
做足充分准备后才好上台去‘献丑’

但是我发现某些人却不是这么想。
一个音乐会的练习是可以‘赶’出来的。完全没有考虑到结果。
一个乐团的合奏练习时间，分组练习时间，也就是拿来讨论是非的时间。
一位音乐演奏员是不需要音乐的背景经验，也可以去当指挥家。
只要做个样子，时不时对人说一些乐理里边引用的词句来骗骗人，
要不就去‘指导’人，‘提醒’人家乐器拿法的姿势错误。
总之就是要演到好像自己很懂就可以了。

遇到问题自己没办法解决时，不是向团友寻求帮助
而是在那里东抱怨西抱怨，偏故事，自导自演，一拖再拖，
问题不但没有决绝还越滚越大。
最后在把烂摊子推向别人不但紧，还要在补多几脚。

不足的地方，被扑上后他却还要来扯。原因只有一个‘态度不对"。
此人真的很可怕，口说是为了乐团好。
其实乐团的问题所在都搞不清楚。不承认问题所在。
一而再，再而三的为自己找理由搪塞。
最后的结果就是没人理。

没人理的理由很简单，因为大家都对此人失去了信心。
其实也不需要什么诡计来设计你，大家也没那么空闲。
团员们都有眼看，有结果与没有结果的分别。
得到众人的配合不是因为别人在背后搞’宫心计'
别再以小人之心度君子之腹。

要得到别人的肯定首先就是要有很好的态度。
不要用命令的口吻对人说话。
也不需要什么诡计来说服别人听你的，只要付出努力，别人有眼看，
自自然然就会和你一起拼！

音乐是快乐的，让大家开心的。
不要在把不好听的声音带进来捣乱我的音律。
奇怪，为什么以前的乐团都不会遇到这种人~~每天练习到很晚都很开心的~
大学果然就是不简单。

I spent my first night in Siem Reap visiting Angkor Night Market.

Well, one of the famous street in Siem Reap town.

I reached here around 8pm and is not that crowded yet.

Quite tempting to bring the drum back and the erhu-like instrument but

since i wouldn't be using it and the price is so freaking expensive. I cut the idea off.

Spotted another group of landmine victim street musicians.

That's the name i'm gonna give them since i have no idea what they call themselves.

They are selling records CD as well, you can buy as a donation to them.

I found that their instruments are mostly similar to those in Thailand.

I believe is the same type of instruments.

Now, who influence who? I believe is the Chinese..Wuahahahaha....

Week 3 of Year 3 Semester 1

I'm really anxious and nervous about meeting my supervisor today.

Well, i'll be meeting him to discuss on my choosen FYP topic.

Hopefully, he would turn out to be a nice person.

It just seem like i'll be busy from now onward.

Fallen pieces of puzzles are all finally back in order now.

Thank to potato for this and i just hope that the condition will still remains as what it was now.

Week 9, i doubt we'll be able to make it but i do have faith for making the concert a success

with cooperation from the rest of the members.

Throwing up an event like this at university level is not as easy as secondary time

since cooperation is playing the main director here.

Well, look like this site is gonna be silent for quite sometime

until i have done all my homeworks, reports, duties, and assignments.

I'll end this post with a glimpse of my hard works!!!

It took me a week to finish this up since i totally have no idea how to use Abode Photoshop for designing.

From browsing YouTube videos to Googling and finding for suitable pictures to includes,

it actually taken me more than a week times. Ouch!!!

So, i'll say the same thing over again.

Sunset at Phnom Bakheng Temple

After a long walk back to my hotel, i finally checked into my room half an hour earlier since it was available by then. I have a bath and slept after that. The plan is to have a good rest and met up with my tuk tuk driver by 4.30pm. I booked his service through online at here.

It'd been a long tiring day considering we didn't have much rest the night before. I snoozed off right after i landed on the bed. By 4pm, i got up and prepare for my trip to Angkor Archeological Park. Jest was not ready yet by 4.30pm so i decided to went down and met up with the tuk tuk driver first. He gave me a hand shake and spoke to me in fluent english, then he asked whether i would like to have a photo with his tuk tuk. I agree to it and taken this photo below.

Jest got down by 4.45pm and we hit the road immediately. On my way to Angkor Archeological Park, I saw lot of kids cycling back from school on their own. Is interesting to watch them.

I reached by 5pm and bought my next-day entrance ticket with my face on it. They do so to prevent people from reusing the ticket. Total cost for a one-day pass = USD20. Gosh~ this is costly isn't it? but is worth it....i'd been longing to see Angkor Wat since i flipped over that page with Angkor picture printed at the bottom of my primary 4 history text book.

Still, Angkor Wat would have to wait. The plan is to buy the next-day ticket today and enter the park right away for the sunset on top of Phnom Bakheng. They didn't charge you extra so i get to enter the park twice within two days time by paying for just one-day charge.

I reached the bottom of Phnom Bakheng around 5.05pm and the first thing that caught my attention was the elephants there and also the music in the air.

I have to walk a short trip up the mountain in order to reach the Hindu temple set at the top. Now you understand the presence of the elephants.

Heard that the path is not an easy one if you are caught in a rain.

Dunno what temple that you'll probably notice during your climb.

So you see, i'll be standing on top of that temple and watch the sun set.

To reach the top of the temple, you'll need to climb up a very steep staircase.

The moment i reached the top i was greeted with tourists...tourists....and lot of tourists.....Then there was this nun here praying.

Lot of peoples were already there when i finally reached. There isn't any more nice spot left to watch the sunset, so me and Jest just went around taking photos. I wasn't sure what to look up for besides the sunset here.

I got down before everyone does because i don't want to be caught between a flock of tourists while climbing down the steep staircase. Is pretty dangerous if you really did fall. I saw a French couples falling the upper staircase and got themselves bandages from head to toes. That's just very bad.

Since the sun is setting there isn't much light left for us while climbing down the hill so make sure you leave earlier. We met a mandarin speaking tour guide who asked us to hire him for the next day trip but i turned it down. I rather spent USD2 on a book which would explain everything to me.

It was already dark by the time we got out of Angkor Archeological Park and is really dusty on the road that i decided to cover my face up totally like this.

Funny, i'm still wearing my spec although i couldn't see anything

i think i managed to scare the other tourist who is sitting on another tuk tuk beside mine while waiting for the traffic light to turn green and Jest wouldn't stop laughing seeing me like this. Memorable one, isn't it? Ha.

Well, if it isn't for someone i wouldn't even bother to agree into this shit! I swear i'll never gonna do this lame post ever again!!!

It took me 6 hours to paste all the decors stuff onto that board! A freaking 6 hours!!!! ZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzzz and it didn't even look nice at all. HATE! Now i still have to work on another piece of shit that just keep failing. SHIT! and FYP topic is up this week, will have to decide on 6 topics. There really isn't much time left for anymore bullshit. I'm no longer in Year 1 or 2 and is really about time i double the effort on my study. The rest is not important anymore.

Now i got bugs and ants invading my room every night which really pissed me off!!!! Arggh.....!!! Just where the hell did they come from? I want to get rid of them permanently!!! I don't want to see anymore ants crawling around my room moving corpses of death bugs. Maybe i really should staple up the whole window with hard woods!!! Urgghhh~~~~!!!! Exactly at this moment while i'm typing this, tiny bugs are crawling on my laptop screen and i spotted some landing on my VECTOR! I'm really getting sick of bugs!!!!! ARGGGHHH!!!!

I'm buying ants poison tomorrow and i'm so gonna staple that window up!!!! WUAHAHA~~~ Don't blame me stupid ants!!!!

I met a moron during the recruitment drive of my chinese orchestra club yesterday. He kinda remind me of the black sheep in my class back in secondary time. I can tell that he probably didn't have any friend at all. Well, he sort of having some social impairment. What a pity. I wonder how it would become if he really did join our orchestra weekly classes. More conflict i guess. Assuming that i'm right, in that case, i guess is better to avoid him then.

I'm going to wake up and forget every thing. Lab at 9am today and i'm still here blogging. Ah hahaha....double the effort on my study ya...i'll take back what i'd said. Bleh.

Around the street in Siem Reap on foot

Within few minutes walk out from the old market, i found myself in the Pub Street but as the name implies this place is meant only for the night. There isn't much shop open in the morning.

Fish massage is found mainly throughout the street which cost around
USD2-3 for 25-30mins + a small can of Angkor Beer.
I didn't try it out since Jest said the fishes in the aquarium are mostly of different species from the one used mainly for fish spa elsewhere.

I found quite a number of shops selling crocodile skin-made materials(Genuine~~~ ).

After wandering on the street for quite some times, i then arrived at the Central Market.

This place is much bigger and has a wider space than the Old Market but there isn't much people here. The vendors here doesn't call out to me as much as those at the Old Market. Sadly, there's nothing special here, all the stuffs on the rack are all nearly same as those found in the Old Market,

they have some cute bag thought.

The only thing that got my attention here is the lady who sell some sort of food by carrying it on a round tray that was balanced on top of her head. I was like a 'sakai' when i saw her and i later found out that it is quite a common scene in Siem Reap and even in Phnom Penh too.

I ate my first lunch in Siem Reap at a small Chinese Restaurant nearby the Central Market.

Well, most of the dishes are very familiar to ours and they even have Singaporean and Malaysian Dishes. I ended up with a plate of 'Cambodian Fried Chicken Rice' for USD2 and coconut drink for USD1. Wanna save money man.....the total cost for this lunch is about RM10 in Malaysian Ringgit already okay~~~

After lunch, we decided to spare two more hours at a shopping mall nearby but we never make it that far because we got lost half way. I found 'VNC' anyway. Is known as ‘Vincci' in Malaysia. Shoes still carry the same price tag printed with 'Made In Malaysia' on it but a freaking price of USD25 for a pair of sandal.

Then this hotel staircase nearby Ta Phrom Hotel. I didn't look up for the name of the hotel because i'm lost somewhere and was busy looking for a way back to my hotel.

If i spent too much, i'll be like the kid that begged me for money on the street.

In the end, i still managed to found my way back in time for check-in and

yeah....that means i have taken my 'dirt road travel package' which cost me few penny to clean up my shoe when i finally reached my destination.

Overall, i think is actually quite safe to check out Siem Reap town on foot during the day time but you'll be hearing Tuk Tuk drivers honking and shouting at you endlessly. Yes, is ENDLESSLY.

After arriving in Siem Reap Garden Inn, they quickly served me a cup of orange juice while Sokha helped me with the check-in procedure. Another two travelers were there as well, we have a chat and i was quite happy to found out that they were both from Malaysia too. Since we arrived too early and there isn't any available room at the moment. I just left my luggage at the reception and asked the two Malaysians to help me keep an eye on it before leaving to old town market.

My plan is to survey the price of souvenirs on sell there and see whether there is any interesting stuff worth bringing back. Since the time for check-in is at 2pm, i have plenty of time to roam around this place. I found it quite dark inside, not crowded but i found myself pouring a bucket of sweat after a few minutes walk probably due to the stuffy and hot atmosphere. Anyway, it is still bearable for me but not so much for my travel buddy.

There's a freaking cobra and scorpion inside that bottle. I dono what it is anyway.

There're quite a few number of shops there selling all sort of stuffs ranging from recycle-made bag, musical instruments, rattan bag, small pewter box, jewelery, gems, spices, T-shirt, silk, Buddha head statue, Apsara statue, keychains, pirated DVD, paintings and etc. The thing i don't like about this place is that they didn't place any price tag on the stuff they sell. So, is better to research for the price first before buying anything. I found most of the time the conversation with the shop vendors goes something like this

Me: 'How much?'

X: (scan at your appearance from top to bottom) '5dollars each'

Me: 'Wooo~ 5 dollars is too much. 2 dollars'

X: 'No. 2 dollars is not good for me. 4 dollars'

Me: 'Oh. No thank then.' (Start walking away)

X: 'Okay. How much you want?'

Me: '2 dollars'

X: 'Okay. I will give you 3 dollars each.'

Me: 'No. I want 2.'

X: 'How many you take?'

Me: 'I need only one'

X: '4 dollars for 2.'

Me: 'No thank. I need only one.' (Start walking away)

X: 'Ok!!! Ok!! 2 dollars one.'

So, you see, just don't agree to the first price or even the second price they offered you.

It may be a different story if you are travelling during the peak season.

I'm travelling during the low season so it's much more easier for me to bargain.

I found most of the vendors there are able to converse in simple Mandarin and Japanese,

although the slang may got you scratching your head sometime. I didn't bought anything here.

Haha because there are still other places that i want to look into before buying.

Since it's still morning, i saw the locals selling fishes and vegetable at the central walking space.

It was quite interesting to watch the facial expression between the buyer and seller although i don't understand what their language.

Most of the time they look and sound like starting a fight soon. Remind me of Malaysian aunties at the pasar. Haha.

I saw them sliced the fish right on the spot. Bloody scary.

This is the spot i found most crowded with locals. I wanted to take more photos

but my travel buddy was already screaming to get out since the smell was quite overwhelming.

So, we went to the other side where household utensils and materials were found.

You can buy anything you forgotten to bring along with you here maybe shampoo, detergen or slipper.

My travel buddy bought an adapter for USD1 here.

We then decided to check out those places nearby since it is still early.

Siem Reap Garden Inn

For a budget traveler like me, i always seek for the MOST budget hotel i can get. May it be a guest house, inn, motel or whatsoever. I don't care. As long as there is a rooftop on top of my head and a place for me to refresh myself, i'm content enough. So, i stayed at this inn for 4 days and 3 night including breakfast which cost me a total of Rm64.50. The rate can be even cheaper if you are sharing a bunk bed with other traveler at other guest house but this also means sharing the same washroom and with no air-con. My travel buddy is not going to survive all these so I pre-booked through airasiago.com during a promotion and got this cheaper than usual rate but of course you'll need to book one year early before the travel date.

Overall, i would give their services a 5 out of 5 stars. Why?

1st: Politeness

I'd stayed in so many hotel before and even a 5 stars hotel do not greet me as often as they did. They greet you from morning to noon to evening and to the night and they smile whenever they see you.

2nd: Facilities

Check out their web-site. For me, i found the multi-adapter socket, free pick-up service from airport, free-drop of service from hotel to nearby places like the Angkor Night Market, Old Market and Pub street pretty useful not forgetting the free internet access with their computer.

3rd: Helpful

The reception staff helped me with my bus ticket to Phnom Penh and one of them even borrowed me his personal card-reader because i asked for it the other night before.

The drawbacks.

1st: Lightning

There is enough light during the day time but we are only left with one small round-shaped dim light at night which is not bright enough to light up the whole room.

2nd: Water

I don't know whether this occur to every room but for mine, there is this strong smell of metal in the water and i have to brush my teeth with bottle water instead.

3rd: The dusty road

Nah...see for yourself. In order to get to the inn you'll need to cross this. I thought of giving cycling a try since they are providing free bicycle for use but i cut the idea off as soon as i saw this.

Think twice about cycling out or walking out unless you enjoy being cover in dirts.

Overalls, i still have a good time staying there and the owner of this inn is a Khmer himself. I have a chat with their staff and they told me they are moving soon and another new boss will take over this place.

Maybe we'll see some improvement by then.

Year 3 Semester 1

I can't believe this is my final year! The first class for this semester; Entrepreneurship. I would say is pretty interesting. First day of class and the lecturer is already telling us not to be too factual but more on imagination and innovation of which i think is quite a challenge for a science student. Haha.

Well, hopefully the rest of the subjects are going to be interesting but it seems like genomics and bioinformatics, fermentation technology both are not going to be that easy. Hmmp...I'm taking Pendidikan Moral for this semester too which i think is a total waste of time. Never did i understand the purpose of this subject, nor during my high school time and neither is now. The worst part is i am asked to pay a huge sum of RM500++ for this lame(LAN) subject. Jerk~~

I'll try to be more active in this space for this semester. Hmmp.....maybe....

Holiday = time for another travel

Okay, so last year i booked my ticket to Cambodia during the AirAsia Mega Sale Season and this is the reward i gave myself after a hectic and long semester. Is pretty cheap for the air fare, under Rm100 for a round trip BUT this excluded the freaking huge sum of USD25 you gotta pay for the airport tax. T___T why~~~~~why~~~??? why do i have to pay???

My plan for the trip, a total of 6 days, 2 places; Siem Reap and Phnom Penh plus a budget of RM500. I'll be spending 3 days in Siem Reap and then travel to Phnom Penh by local bus before departing back to Malaysia. On the night before departing, i am so nervous because my travel buddy had been telling me how not safe it was in Cambodia since her friends were robbed right after their arrival in the airport(WU~~~~~how unlucky~~~) and also the recent conflict between Cambodia and Thailand( if you read the news you probably know that there is a war between these two countries). All these cases are really a big turn off but i insisted on going since i already booked the hotel.

So, one day before the flight, i travel down from Kampar to KL Sentral and stayed at McD until 3am morning before catching the skybus to LCCT. A lot of peoples were also waiting for the bus at McD so safety is not an issue here but Arghhh.....who the hell that booked the ticket so freaking early in the morning???

I didn't order for anything.....buahahahaha...

I arrived in LCCT around 4.30am and found myself a good spot to laid down on my back for a quick nap before departing. Wuahahahaha....

After checking in, i went to McD for morning breakfast and i met.......

What a concidence~~~!! I later learnt that they'd been there since the night before and is taking the 6am flight to Sarawak, Sibu. We wishes each other a safe and nice trip before departing.

Jestrine was so excited seeing the sunrise. I guess this is the first time she saw the sunrise from the plane...

Fill it up with all the details they ask for and slip it inside your passport. The one below is for dropping into a box upon arrival at the airport. I stuck both inside my passport and the male officer scolded me loudly for doing so, which totally spoiled my mood. I knew that girl got irritated over little thing during their period so i assume this officer probably have too much estrogen circulating in his blood thus explained his lacking of politeness here.

Luckily, the guy they came to fetch me lighten up my mood for the day and he told me that it was raining quite heavy in the morning before our arrival. Phew~ how lucky am i... Anyway, the both of us couldn't stop laughing seeing him holding a board with our names printed on it. It felt so weird and funny. Hahahaha...

Sokha, which means happiness in Khmer.

I later learnt that the hotel i'm staying in actually provided free shuttle service to fetch us from the airport to the hotel and i could have save RM12 for this ride. =_= wish i found out about that earlier.

Greeting from Cambodia~~

Cambodia, siem Reap. It turn out to be a safer place than i initially thought it was. The peoples here are all very nice and friendly. The driver that picked me up upon my arrival even helped me checked in to my hotel. Funny. I just sat there and enjoy my orange juice(free, serve by the hotel staff) while he helped me with the check in procedure. My tuk tuk driver, mr keo, of which i pre booked online turn out to be really good. He still put on a smile although me and my travel buddy were late for half an hour due to some consequences. Cold drink is provided for free too.

I'd been to Angkor Archaeological Park for sunset yesterday and today for the sunrise. I must say, is a place you should not miss to go while you are still young. For sure.....haha...have to do lotsa climbing. phew`~~~

tomorrow i'll be going to visit the silk farm....heh heh...free of charge also...includes the transport and entrance...heh heh....will be back with more details soon....

Met a group of Korean asking me to fill up a questionnaire for them and the next thing i know is standing there with a dirty hand(i went out to throw rubbish), listening to their story about god-der-ma-ther.

Me: 'Pardon?'

Okay, so i got a visit from another member of the cockroach family again yesterday night.

Second night here, i have a big fat Moth that just kept coming back.
Third night here, i have Cricket singing lullaby in my room.
Forth night here, i sent a Firefly to heaven of which i thought is a cockroach.
Fifth night here, another Firefly came to mourn for it lost.

Instead of preparing for my Physiology Exam this Saturday, i ended up here blogging. Haha. I just felt like typing something. Blogging mood is switched on instead or reading mood now. It'd been raining for this passed few days here in Kampar and i guess the rainy day did generate a very much relaxing atmosphere here which turn me into a lazy worm instead of a book worm.

Microbiology Paper today is okay to me, thank goodness i can answer most of the questions, at least 90% of them. Phew~~~ Hopefully i'll obtain a good grade for this paper. Fingers crossed.

It'd been three days since i moved into this new room of mine. House mates are all very helpful and friendly. Everything is fine except for one: COCKROACH~~!!!!

My first night here and this freaking creature flew into my room through the open window. Say 'Hello' and then vanished. I screamed so loud until my house mate rushed into my room. We tried to look for the cockroach but failed. So, i switched off the light in hope that it will show up.

By 3am in the morning, i woke up to find this freaking horrible creature crawling on my toothbrush.

EW~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!! What the heck~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to hit it but missed and this freaking horrible + disgusting creature flew heading the direction of where my bed is. I was screaming 'NO~~~NO~~~NO~~~Not my pillow~~~!!!' but it was too fast and i was too slow. It landed on top of my pillow and crawled on it. Oh Great! *Rolling eyes*

I managed to kill it with my slipper after that but i ended up in Tesco at night, buying my new pillow and my new toothbrush, not forgetting my new weapons; a bottle of Aerosol and napthalene ball.

Me: 'STUPID COCKROACH!!!!! COME LAR~~~ AND PREPARE TO DIE~~!!!!! WUAHAHAHAHA~~~!!!!!'
Housemate A :'Wa~ need or not?'
Housemate B:' What's that smell? Napthalene?'
Me: 'Yep.'
Housemate B: ' I think you put too much.'
Me: 'No lor~~~ Like this only effective mar.'
Housemate B: 'Ok. Good night.'

and i freaking cannot sleep through the whole night because my whole room is occupied by the smell of napthelene.

So, it'd been two years. WOaaaaAAaaaa....

First month here.......still ok

Second month here....... ok lo

Third month here..........arrgghhhh

Forth month here........arrrgghhhhh + pulling hairs

Fifth month here.............Waaaaaaaaaa

Half year here

'I swear i'll move by the end of semester!!!!'

Then came another semester and i still found myself here.

and follow by another semester

1 year later

'I swear i will move out from here!!!!!!!'

and i found myself signing the contract for another year....

then came industrial training and i'm still here

Finally, after two years time....i'm outta here and hopefully i'd made the right decision.

I came to Kampar looking for a place to stay with my friends a long time ago

Then, one after another, we moved in.

Bond moving in....the last one to move in and also the last one left staying there.

and one after another, we moved out but it still remains the place we gather for birthday party, lunch, dinner, assignment, test, and so on.

Well, i guess we'll just have to find another place for all this.

And of course, there's one person i would like to thank here.
My neighbour who'd been sharing the same balcony with me.

He loves to sing while taking his shower but is usually out of tune(depending on his mood that day).
He played '大悲咒 rock version' during the Hungry Ghost Festive.
His pet always escaped into my room and i have to stick my head out the window screaming for him to catch them back.
He let me take care of his plant, fighting fish and his hamster when he is back to his hometown.
Sometime he came in my room hunting for food and then cabut with 2 pack of instance noodles.
and sometime he would came in my room with a big grin on his face saying 'Sensei~~~' while holding something new on his hand(usually is his pet).
He's always the hero whenever some scary and gross insects stick their heads out in my room.
He borrow me his homework and told me exam tips.
Most importantly, he's the one who helped me shifted all my stuffs from PJ to this house.

and now that he's not staying next door of me anymore
i guess i'll just have to work extra harder on my reports
and pay more attention in lecture now.

I know you'll probably be reading this now.

Busy as a bee.....

Kinda neglected my own blog recently because i'm busy updating the other one.

Well, i had just lead through a very busy weekend and am is expecting another round of busy week ahead.

Just to put it short.

I joined an orchestra performance on Wednesday and it took my whole week away.

(rolling eyes)

Classes still continue as usual and works are pilling up my desk.

And so i decided to pray for having more time to spare on Thursday night.

(Fingers crossed)

......and my lantern rejected to 'bug'.....

Well, in another term it means 'float' which according to Chinese belief,

one wishes will never come true if the lantern failed to float up

Erm....actually i signed up for this...so no one to blame but myself.

Next up, got a called from Ryan asking me to become the photographer for the Orchestra Solo Competition.

=____= felt like turning down on this but since he's so sincere on asking me i felt bad to reject him.

最近变得有点懒，似乎什么都不想做。

可是却又有太多太多的东西等着我去做，一忙起来就没剩多少时间去写作。

哎~~也不知道自己在忙什么。

最糟的是，华语进步了，英语变菜了！！！

拜那家伙所赐，成天没事干就抓我语病。

昨天的时间全都留给华乐了，我个人觉得这不是一个好的现象。

毕竟学业才是一个学生最重要的。

也罢，反正目前课业还在掌握中。

昨晚练习笛子才发现我的理解能力还真的是比常人慢个七八拍。

有够让人抓狂的咯~~~

怪不得教我的人最后都会变成打我的人。

在不加强练习，我想我很快会被大家掐死。

星期三晚，有个表演。可是大家都好像不是练习的很足够咯~~

希望一切顺利。

今年的新年和以往的过得很不一样，第一次为了自己的梦想而牺牲了回家过年的机会。

除夕，大家心情都很亢奋时，我埋头在读书，准备去考试。

一个对我来说意义非常的考试。

非常零乱的桌子。

大年初一，在朋友家接财神放鞭炮。原来在西马过年是这么Chinese的。

朋友很专注的不知道在写些什么。看，就连椅子都很chinese.

大年初二，到处去拜年，到了晚上和朋友以及她家人结伴去看了一部电影。‘最强喜事’

朋友和她堂妹。可惜我没照到相。

大年初三，一大早去了两个宫，王宫和天后宫。

和王宫前的马合照，真不明白为什么要放个马在这种地方。

在天后宫的龟池和婆婆抓乌龟。

而后被骗去了怡保。当天起程时下了一场大雨，好冷。

到了陌生的地方，一下车站有人来接你，是很幸福的。

初四，一大清早吃了早餐后跑去和朋友老师拜年。A了个红包在A个午餐。

而后去了团员家拜年。

初五，忘了重要东西却还没做好的我，和另三位朋友通宵做准备。一起做熊猫。

下次绝对不在做这种吃力不讨好的事了!!!

初六，行尸走肉中，准备考试和讨厌的报告。

初七~初十，忙于讨厌的课业外同时间也忙于乐团的活动。

还有就是练习练习练习。

在过几天就快年十五了，哇~~~好快，我的孔明灯都还没放。

这次，不知道又会飞去那里。哈哈哈~~~

新的一年，新的目标，新的愿望，新的旅程，希望一切顺利。

After reading the news, i twisted my brain and though about what kinds of effort our government had put in so far to prevent the spreading of dengue.

Number 1: They put up advertisement on all our RTM and even wrote a song for it.

Unexpected 5 days break.

(Actually there's one lecture early in the morning within this five days but i skipped it anyway)

Went up to Ipoh with my friends on Wednesday. Is my third visit to Ipoh this month.

Amazing huh? It seem like i'm paying Ipoh a visit every week.....ZzzzZZZzzzzzz

and kept disturbing my friend every week......ZZZzzzzZZzzzzzz

I played bowling on Wednesday night. It'd been a long long time i didn't lay a fingers on bowling.

Unexpectedly, it seem like i'm improving on it. A lot.

Well, by swinging the ball to the audience seat rather than the lane.

Haha....a new way to murder your friend without guilt.

Momo. She is the one who invited me....

The next morning, i went mount climbing.

Got up as early as 6am but i slept at 4am.

Yeah...walking zombie up the hill.

Surprisingly, morning in Ipoh is way cooler than i thought it would be.

Remind me of Sabah.

The only different is we wouldn't be able to see any star at that time in Sabah.

Halfway up the hill.

Initially, i thought i was going for a breakfast so this explain why my attire is so different from other.

Ipoh town was celebrating Thaipusam and the traffic was terrible.

Luckily, we got a good driver who knew how to avoid bumping into men with kavadi.

We got back home for a break before hitting the cinema.

I watched this movie which i'd planned to watch with Michelle and Spiky.

Pretty good considering the fact that it was a home-made movie.
Not the best and yet is not the worst.

After the movie, we went to pasar malam. I didn't manage to buy anything.
Got back home and ate the egg tarts we forgot to consume early in the morning plus Ng's mum Longan drink with an addition of 萝卜糕 and popiah bought by dunno who.

A great day well spent before the nightmare hit me.

I checked on my email and voila.....no more easy breezy day......

I'm currently having my most tiring holiday with my family.

Well, initially i thought it was going to be fun travelling with my family

but turn out i was wrong.

My mum wouldn't stop bragging on tiny stuff which annoyed me

(now the light is off and she still wouldn't stop talking nonsense)

My dad wouldn't stop scolding me

and the debate goes on the whole way from Kinabalu to Kudat.

The adults only did two things best....

Number 1: 'Paying the bill'

I wish for some peach and quiet moment.

Number 2: 'Making last minute decision'

Well, for example....

I asked: 'Rm170, one big room for family. How?'

Adults: 'No lar....go there see see first. Compare the rate mar....'

Me: 'Is Christmas and most of the hotel in town were fully booked. We shouldn't be picky...'

and we ended up in the most expensive resort in town....

Finally, is the end of my industrial training.

For two years, i'd been celebrating Christmas with my fellow university friends

and i never have a chance to celebrate this special day with family.

Now, i finally have the chance to celebrate Christmas differently.

I received a call from Spiky this morning and i'm touched.

I didn't expect him to call when i told him i'm watching Alvin and the Chipmunk at that very moment.

That's the movie we watched together on last year Christmas.

I do miss the time we celebrate Christmas together.

Anyway, if there's one place i get to choose to be at.

I'll choose to be at the Chinese temple in KL watching the Chinese orchestra competition.

Why?

Number 1: The stupid machine which is use for running blood sample test broke down that day

and they point their fingers on me.

(Just because it is lunch hour and i'm the only one left at the department that time)

Turn out, the engineer found out it is actually because they didn't perform the monthly maintenance and caused the blood to accumulate and clotted up the system.

Number 2: A doctor phoned and complaint about lost samples.

They pointed their fingers on me and claimed that i'm the one who

accidentally threw the samples into the trash.

Tired of having nothing to do on a Sunday

There's not much i can do on a Sunday.

Initially, i planned to visit a number of places on every weekend i have here

but recently i just don't felt like hitting the road at all due to limited time.

Well, you see i can't keep travel back and forth from a place that will take me

3 hours to reach and another 3 hours back in just one day time.

I'm only left with 2 more weekends to spare here before i wave my goodbye

to the Land Below The Wind.

There's still a numbers of places i planned to go

Interesting places like The Tips Of Borneo at Kudat, The Poring Hot Spring at Ranau,

Sabah Tea Plantation at Ranau, The Milk Farm at Kundasang, The Sompoton making center at Tambunan,

Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, and the local coffee factory at Tenom

but due to transport issue(a real big issue here) and the time given

I can only wait until the day my parents arrive here and the end of my industrial training.

Then the only thing i'll have to do by that time

is to get a nod on my parents head

and i'll hit the road with them.

I'm waiting anxiously for that day.

If you experience pain in your past, you're not going to drop the subject

Times may heal but the journey through life is cruel enough to remind you
of what happened in the past once in a while.

So, to cope with the pain the memory brought me when it hit me.

I look back at my past once in a while to remind myself
not to make the same mistake i once made,
to remind myself not to miss out another great things in life,
to remind myself to experience more,
to remind myself to grab any opportunity that comes their way,
to remind myself there's still a long road to conquer ahead,

to remind myself to remember the great times i have had,
to remind myself not to let jealousy get in my way and blur my justice,
to remind myself to appreciate more and embrace what i have,
to remind myself that i'm much more lucky than most peoples,

most importantly
to remind myself not to be afraid of my past

It is only when you look fear in the face that you gain strength to move on with future.

So, it is totally fine to look back at your past and to be reminded of all the stupid things you once did,
the lame guy or maybe girl(Wu~~~~) you fall for, lies you told, peoples you hurt, violence, failure,
so on and on.....

Just take all that as a lesson for you to better your next move.
The pain will only make you stronger and not dampen your spirit even further.
Remember your past to know where your locus point now and to discover the new you.
